Arkansas Department of Education (ADE) is committed to the “Grow your Own Model” of teacher recruitment to meet the needs of Arkansas students. ADE has strengthened its focus on pre-collegiate educator recruitment and preparation considering data shows almost 60% of teachers work 20 miles from where they graduated from high school. This session focuses on the Pre-Educator program of study which can jumpstart students path to licensure while providing them experiences to engage and grow in the profession as they become education professionals serving their communities. This session will also explore options around how Pre-Educator completers can continue on their licensure pathway after high school graduation while working as Certified Teaching Assistants (CTAs) while earning their education degree and licensure.
