An overview of both of these programs will be given with highlights regarding serving the entire state of Arkansas. The Low Vision Clinic has been housed at ASBVI since its inception. Dr. Kennan Doan, OD works to maximize the visual potential of his patients through a variety of ocular devices based upon a low vision evaluation. The clinic is open one ½ day per week during the academic school year. The Birth to 3 program is comprised of 2 early childhood specialists who travel the state to work with infants and their caregivers in homes, daycares, or therapeutic centers. Services are geared to provide instruction and critical information for parents and caregivers as they navigate the world of visual impairment and blindness. The Instructional Resource Center provides textbooks for all visually impaired and blind students in the state of Arkansas attending public school. The IRC is a free resource for textbooks and novels. Services can be requested by parents or school district administrators (superintendent, principal or special ed director) at Educational Services for the Visually Impaired at:   https://arksped.k12.ar.us/applications/Circuit/Request.aspx
